There are a lot of theories as to why zebras are striped – to make it hard for predators to single out one from the herd or for camouflage in the terrain among other theories. I wanted to go in close for a different view – the stripes almost become landscape with their textures and shadows and the eye acting as a punctuation mark to the composition.
